Here are the necessary procedures outlined by the Department of State for a notary to complete in order to register as a Remote Online Notary Public via the Department of State's Division of Corporations.

To initiate your registration as an online notary public, the first step involves successfully finishing the online education training course and obtaining a certificate of completion. This certificate should be attached to your registration application. The application form, titled "Application Registration for Online Notary Public," is located at the bottom of the page. Once completed, it must be sent by mail to the Florida Department of State, Division of Corporations, PO Box 6327, Tallahassee, FL 32314, or delivered in person or via courier service to 2415 North Monroe St., Suite 810, Tallahassee, FL 32303. A $10 initial fee, payable by check to the Florida Department of State, is required for the application process.

The Florida Department of State neither recommends nor endorses any specific third-party vendors. The fundamental criteria for vendors' technology can be located in Chapter 117, Florida Statutes, and Chapter 1N-7001, Florida Administrative Register.
Remote Online Notaries Public are regulated by recently established rules and statutes, in addition to existing notary regulations. The enabling statute, titled "Electronic Legal Documents," was enacted under Chapter 2019-71, Laws of Florida, and became effective on January 1, 2020. Furthermore, the duties, responsibilities, and application procedures for online notaries are detailed in 1N-7001, Florida Administrative Code.
In your application, it is mandatory to furnish the commencement and expiration dates of your current notary public commission, and these must align with the records held by the Secretary of State. Your online notary public registration will align with the duration of your active notary public commission and will conclude on the same expiration date, irrespective of the filing date for the online notary public registration. If you successfully reapply for a notary public position, you can subsequently reapply to be an online notary public.
